Cresswell
The biggest defensive liability in the team and it's been that way for about 4 years now. Not very good going forward for a while now either so it's hard to understand how is he the only lb in the whole squad

Whoever would have thought that having 1 left back, and 1 striker in the squad would come back and bite us on the arse (again)?

Re: Cresswell
Masuaku is a left back. But otherwise good story.

Always makes me crack up, that one.

Masuaku is not a left back. He's even said himself that it's not his position.

Re: Cresswell
Apart from a striker, this position will be Moyes' priority next window. I reckon the link with the Ajax LB had legs and may well go back to him. I've always liked Cresswell, but we need better now.

Re: Cresswell
In terms of adequate PL cover for left back we are lacking but Ogbonna can play there effectively as he has demonstrated in the past.

"Fuka-Arthur Masuaku Kawela, known as Arthur Masuaku, is a Congolese professional footballer who plays as a wing-back or left back for Premier League club West Ham United and the DR Congo national team."

Yeah ok Trunds....

8 assists in the league last season so thats a lie....

He also isnt the only LB.. Arthur can play there....Johnson can do a job there and liking the look of Longelo in the U23's

Re: Cresswell
First goal yesterday was on him. Either get yourself goalside or hold the line and play him offside. He did neither really and then stopped and put his arm in the air.

As for his crossing - the entire team seemed reluctant to put the ball in the box without Antonio being there.

The idiocy of not having another striker has already started to bite us on the bum.

when has he played left back for us?

Ogbonna at left back??

hahahahahahahahaha

Re: Cresswell
Ogbonna played on occasion as a left back when at Torino. He is a natural left footer and has the defensive nous to provide adequate cover.

Johnson 11:28 Mon Sep 20

Ogbonna last played for Torino 8 years ago

Re: Cresswell
Not sure Ogbonna would provide much going forward.

Looks very uncomfortable outside his own half, except at corners.

Can't recall him crossing the ball either.

''First goal yesterday was on him. Either get yourself goalside or hold the line and play him offside''

Problem is that is not so easy to do, as strikers these days play on the shoulder, so if a defender drops off to goalside the striker then steps up again to be level, or he stays and then makes his run when he thinks the ball will be released often leaving his marker flat footed. it's why you see so many goals when the forward moves into the space when level or just behind his marker.

Re: Cresswell
Cresswell, like those who played on Thursday weren't all that yesterday. This is down to FATIGUE.

Our fans are quick to jump on players backs after 1 bad game, he has been fantastic for us and a very good defender.

Sajmo1 11:32 Mon Sep 20
Re: Cresswell
8 assists last season looks good on paper but it doesn't tell the whole story. He takes almost every set piece and an enormous amount of crosses. Coufal had 7 assists and crossing isn't even the best part of his game.

Sajmo1 11:34 Mon Sep 20
Re: Cresswell
Block 1 bad game? He's been our worst defender since Bilic left.
The fact he's still starting is only due to the fact that Sullivan doesn't find that position attractive enough to spend actual money there

Re: Cresswell
Absolute rubbish that Cresswell has been crap for four years. Was up there last season as one of our best players. Yes he makes errors but who doesn't. Zouma had a great game yesterday for instance but maybe should have done better with Lingard for his goal. However yes an upgrade should be looked at due to his age.

Takashi Miike 11:41 Mon Sep 20
Re: Cresswell
I agree with sajmo. fab has got a lot of stuck this season but many of the goals have been down to this cunt's poor positional play, and inability to tackle. he has lovely hair, and with a bit more pace could do a job wide left, but we need better at LB
